Research content
The main themes of this laboratory are modeling and mathematical optimization. Mathematical modeling involves describing various real-world phenomena (data) using mathematical equations, and mathematical optimization involves adjusting the parameters associated with those models based on some criteria. The essence of the rapidly developing field of "AI" is based on these two aspects. For example, well-known AIs in recent years include “Stable Diffusion” and “ChatGPT”. "Stable Diffusion" consists of a mathematical model which describes the process of converting data such as images and text into image data, and “ChatGPT” include a model converting text data into text data. Of course, these models are adjusted to be useful for humans. Our laboratory contributes to the development of such AI technologies, studying from classical data modeling techniques to state-of-the-art deep learning technologies, covering both fundamental and application research.
